K200D histogram question

I've been experimenting with ev compensation and manual settings, trying to push the histogram to the RH edge without going over it. I noticed today that there seems to be a difference in the histogram between the instant replay and the later, manual replay. Several times the instant replay has shown me a histogram that has a nice little tail that ends just before the RH edge, but when it turns off and I press the replay button to have a longer look, I'm sure that the tail is further over to the RH edge, sometimes going over it. Am I imagining things or is there an explanation for this?

TIA, Richard.

I checked and haven't notice that in my K100D.
