I got mine the first day it was shipped her in the US and the first thing I did was wait the 6 hours it took to charge the battery . Then I believe I threw the A* 85mm on it and took a few shots indoors and tried out video. The next day I took it out and shot some macro with the A* 200mm. That is when it really showed how great it was with metering and white balance.

That sounds like a good combo. What are you shooting with the FA77? How much faster do you feel the AF is with this lens, on the K-7 I mean?
It's a well known fact that the focus throw of the FA77 limited is a bit long. However, the AF is a bit zippier with the smaller adjustments on the K-7 and the thing i'm really stoked with is that my K-7 nails the focus with the FA77 right out of the box, with no AF adjustment required. The low light AF illumination is an excellent addition and I approve of the aesthetically pleasing green light which is better than the Nikon and Canon AF assist beams. though the REAL AF Test for my new K-7 will be the Pentax FA*600mm f/4 that I have borrowed from my uncle.

and if you're really into birding, AF-C has vastly improved since the K10D. even though FPS is limited to 3fps but I understand why pentax did that and I find it is a reasonable compromise. Of course nothing is stopping you from using AF-S and trap focus... that way you get 5 FPS - the AF 540FGZ is able to strobe at 3 FPS on the K-7 though you need a fast lens to do that, I tested it with my Pentax A 50mm f/1.2 - Additionally, I have tested HSS functionality and I haven't had a problem with it..but I always use flash in manual mode.

Sounds really promissing. I suppose I've have to try out the video with my A* lenses too.

Also sounds very good.
Envy you the possibility to shoot with the FA*600.

you should try doing some video with a f/1.2 lens....

and no, that wasn't shot with the FA*600mm that was a shot from today with my sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG APO

Ouch! I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of mine today, so I can imagine exactly what it'd feel like if they suddenly told me to wait a week. Hope it arrives soon!

Interestingly, the 50-200mm WR lens has gone on backorder here though - so I'll only be receiving the body, 18-55 WR, portrait grip and remote. No indication yet of how long the backorder wait will be...

Where are you ordering from? I'm getting a K7 in a few weeks time but I haven't decided where to order it from.

Well, I'm using it with the right of someone who has lived in Finland for more than a year, and because I was looking for a non-English word that would not be filtered by the forum-server.

Dustin, just because they had the best price I could find in Sweden.

Wow, it is sooo small! I first thought they packed a K-m by misstake!
And it feels so solid.
Then I turned it on...thought it was broken and didn't work...but it is just sooo silent!
