I never did speak up but....

I always would look at my K10D's and wish one was blue and one was yellow. I'm serious. I have always wanted my cameras available in different colors....

That being said, I know I won't get em for a while, because I'm not an entry level buyer!

Ah but I think this is a good move. I can see many people buying cameras with great specs in the color of their chooosing.

Kudos to Pentax.

What a great consumer world we live in.

to each his own... I find it cheesy like cell phone...

A desperate move for cheap consumer goods... Like those damn colored washers and dryers with 400 dollar pedestals...

I look at my K10D and test my patience until I can afford a K-7. Now this happens....
It gets me all confused; if the AF/WB/flash on the K-x is similar to the K-7, I actually might upgrade to an entry level! Yeah, weather sealing has been useful on occasion, but in reality not all that often.
If an entry level has what I am looking for, then why not get one?!?

I'm with you, a fellow curmudgeon. I once had a purple (grape) imac, and boy did that get old FAST. I cringe when I think about it. My cousin had a perm in the 80s, and I've seen the same look on his face when we look at old photos. At least that was in the 80s, though. These color cameras look dated to me before they even hit the shelves.

It's a good thing I'm not - otherwise I'd never get out of bed in the morning or finish a shower...

No. I sometimes think my niece is, though, when I see her out with her friends. And then sometimes I think she's a vampire. Ah, to be young.

Now that's exactly the kind of reply I resisted.

I'm here to fill in the gaps...

So to speak.

As it were.

In a manner of speaking.

I bet, that when car manufacturers had started to paint cars in different colours, many sceptics were saying exactly the same.

The colors are nice... but

But what it really needs is a little LCD on the front, so that the Myfacebook folks can take pics of themselves and friends mugging for the camera.

Then and only then will pentax dslr's really capture the market! The colors are bitchin' tho

White Out plus Sharpie.

Entry level SLR's aren't disposable consumer goods? Cheap is debatable, I suppose--but Pentax would be thrilled if consumers bought a new, fashionable model every year.

I think the upside of this move is the demonstration that Pentax is intentionally moving away from retail sales. The custom-color cameras (I'm guessing) must be ordered online; if Pentax moves to a direct-order system globally, their rejection of retail stores might actually make some sense. Not complete sense, not convincing sense, but not stark raving mad, either.
