LSD's (Low Self Discharge) are my favorite, along with a GOOD charger with a "condition" cycle.

See any number of previous threads on the subject (incuding for other cameras that take AA's, like the K200D, K100D, etc). Eneloops are the most popular brand of low self-discharge cells, but depending on where you live, other brands may be easier to find or cheaper, and should work just as well. They'll usually be advertised as "pre-charged" and the ads will say they hold their charge longer than ordinary rechargeables.

"Eneloop" brand batteries became recently available (here in Holland). I switched to these , and I am happily surprised. They last very long although rated "only" 2000mAH.
My electronics supplier also sells rechargeble Lithium AA cells, but these are NOT for the K-m because they have a voltage of 3.6 volt, which will surely damage the K-m!

The K-m takes AA batteries. The lithium-based rechargeable batteries are called lithium-ion (Li-Ion), and they do not exist in AA format. There are lithium-based AA's (Energizer brand), but they are not rechargeable. But Eneloops and similar "low self-discharge" / "hybrid" NiMH rechargeable are every bit as good as Li-Ion batteries, and cheaper and easier to find to boot, so there would be no reason to *want* a Li-Ion battery for for the K-m. There are also new zinc-based rechargeable AA's that are supposed to work very well.

My K-m uses 2000mAh Eneloops. I'm averaging 751 shots per charge.

Calling a cell a "hybrid" is sort of meaningless, except that it is a term often used to distinguish the NiMH cells that are specifically designed to have low self-discharge from the ones that that were not so designed. That is, consider it a synonym for "low selfdischarge". But yes, Eneloops are "hybrids" - the first such cells on the market, as far as I know, and by far the msot well-known, although not necessarily the easiest to find in any given country or any given store.
