Hello All,

Does anyone still have the .05 version of the K7 firmware kicking around, or know where I can find it?

I had upgraded to .09 but after doing some low light shooting on the weekend I have noticed a crap-load of hot pixels (8 white, 4 red and 2 blue) that weren't apparent in .05 (under similar conditions), so I want to revert back and test. I've tried pixel mapping, but that did nothing.

Also, can I revert back from .09, simply by running .05 again, or will this cause issues?

Seems there's another minor firmware update, .13. I know your question was how to downgrade, but just letting you know there's also the option to upgrade.

I'm still on version 1.01, can anyone point me to the latest version above as Pentax UK don't appear to have anything more than what I've got now!

The file name is K7_e101w.exe That's the exact same file name of the firmware upgrade I did a while back. Is this a real upgrade or have I already got the latest version? When I switch the camera on with the menu button depressed it just shows version 1.01 rather than 1.01.00.13 HELP!!!!!!!

Yes, the name of file is the same, but it's different firmware. You can check it after uptade if You use free software PhotoME (google it) and open new taken image with it. Somwhere in descriptions there is full firmware version.

I think that you might bring back your K7 to the shop much more than try to downscale the firmware

Hey Jason,

Here are a couple examples of the hot pixels I am seeing. These are 2 100% crops from different areas of an image that was taken at ISO 1600 with a 2 second shutter with the lens cap on.

OK, so riddle me this...

To this point, I've been complaining about the hot pixels based on the .jpg previews rendered both on the camera and in Faststone (what I use to quickly review my images before bringing them in to Lightroom). So I decided to bring my most recent batch of pictures into Lightroom and check out the results there. Low and behold, NO hot pixels in the DNG files.

So I'm thinking, maybe it's a jpg preview issue... So I switch to jpg instead of raw on the camera and perform the same test... I open it in Photoshop and the hot pixels are there, in all their (non)glory.

Is it possible that it is a jpg issue, and not an all-round camera problem?

I'm stumped.

Definitely sounds like something with the JPEG rendering engine in-camera.

How about try one more thing: shoot in DNG, then convert in-camera to JPEG.

Tried it, and as expected, same result. It doesn't surprise me because even the jpg preview of the RAW files were exhibiting the same hot pixels as the actual jpg file... So converting from RAW to JPG in camera would basically use the jpg preview, no?
