Mine was $5,001-$10,000. I'll just say that the number is from my most recent purchase and not the ones before it.

I'd probably say a little over 3,000 throughout my entire history of owned lenses and body. But right now with the current, I'd say a total of around 2,900.

I reckon i'm in level 2 so far but then again I only started 11 months ago and got my original kit for a steal
Saying that I do have a couple of 85s now and a 77 on the way and my girlfriend has promised me a 43 for my birthday in Dec...
I'm a bit worried about the limiteds to be honest, like I mean if you have 2 of the 3 that means you're more inclined to want the last one yes?

Indeed I should have made another catagory - can't edit a poll dern !
Yes, my schedule of items for insurance cannot lie!!!

My schedule will definitely hit a new high after adding that FA* 250-600/5.6 purchase.... Plus sinking ~$1500 (MSRP) into a support system for the FA* 250-600/5.6. That's just a top shelf gimbal head and tripod that will meet my heavy lens needs. That Gitzo GT3541XLS tripod is a pretty penny but super light at just over 4 lbs, max. load of 39.5lbs plus max. height of 78" (no center column)!

Regards,
Marc

Currently, I'm in the $1000-5000 category. This is the most money that I've ever spent on a hobby--the rest of them all added up haven't cost this much. Thus far, this is the hobby that I've gotten the most satisfaction out of, though.

Within that category, the figure is knocking on the $5000 door--that's just my body and lenses. If I were to throw in the accessories like my tripod, head, bags, flash, etc., it would definitely cross the $5000 mark. When I had my Pentax gear, I estimated that the replacement value was somewhere around $3000 for my body and lenses; since switching to Canon, that figure has gone up quite a bit; the replacement value on 2 of my lenses alone is about half the value of my entire body/lens kit. My 40D body was given to me as a gift and I've bought all of my lenses gently used, so I haven't paid anywhere near what their replacement value is.

My 2...

I don't want to add it up, but I still haven't spent enough. There's more equipment I want to buy.

If I were to replace everything at current french prices, I guess I will be near 5k. Ah!
I'm glad I bought most of my stuff in China or 2nd hand!

My kit is probably right around $10000 in replacement value at the moment. Maybe more depending on the used market. Way too much considering I just got into the DSLR game in November 2007. I do have a ZX-10 from about 12 years ago but that only adds maybe $10 to my total.

When I started out three years ago with a K100D & Sigma 17-70 combo I had in my mind a limit of $1k -- just a part-time hobby. Then the need for a tele zoom followed with a fast prime easily took it past the mark. Once the Ltd lure set in plus an upgrade to K20D, darn difficult to keep it under $4k.

But .... my brother recently wrote he spent close to $10k on a regulation rebuild of his Cessna toy's engine and he didn't even blink. Made me think $4k on cameras, so what?!!

I know photography is cheap.

Last year, I replaced the engine on my Cessna 210, and the bill was way higher than that. Then, I upgraded the avionics, so, to make sure everything would look nice, I had the panel redesigned to include everything I added.

Well the poll went as expected (at least how I expected) - maybe the Marc and Jim catagory has a few more people than I would have expected (or perhaps sme of us are kidding oursleves and not counting a few things to keep us out of that catagory -- not that I know anyone like that )

I am not sure what's next for me - there are certainly more lenses I want and bodies to be had. As others have mentioned as far as hobbies go , I think it is middle of the road $$ - for me it's cheaper than a Porsche and it augments some of the other things I like to do (Travel and make slide shows) so I suspect my total will continue to creep up.

I am such a pack rat I may never get rid of anything (unless my wife gets involved haha she recently had me let go of some Fortran 77 and Assembler books I had from collage some ohh so many years ago .. ..... )

This is my first post here but I've been reading all your discussion for past 2 months. That's probably the reason why I've spent over $3,000 on Ebay past 3 weeks to acquire at least used 40 lenses!

The crazy part is i haven't received my K10D yet as I'm waiting for my friend to ship it over from the States.

Can't wait to test those lenses!
