Will Pentax go back to Sony sensors for the nextgen?
Just speculation on my part, but after having read/seen reports of the high ISO quality of the K-x, which uses a Sony 12mp sensor, perhaps Pentax will realize that it's marriage to Samsung really needs to be served papers? That seems to be happening given all the latest news, but maybe the K-7 will lose it's appeal now that the K-x has been released.
It seems like high ISO image quality of the K-7 (with the Samsung sensor, if what I've read is correct) isn't up to snuff in comparison to the "entry level" marketed K-x.
Will firmware updates to the K-7 be any help, given the fact it uses a Samsung sensor? Not sure of that.
I'm still shooting on my K100DS, and find that ISO 1600 is quite acceptable with a touch of NR in LR. Even at 3200 with Noise Ninja shots are acceptable. Love the 6mp Sony sensor in this body!
Now, waiting for the next APS-C body with a rockin' high dynamic range, low ISO noise (possibly Sony?) sensor to come along!
