I'd go with the k7. The weatherproofing is a big deal to me. Correct me if I'm wrong but the KX doesn't have weather sealing does it?

My k200d is still working just fine so I doubt I'm going to upgrade anytime soon. I "need" to be spending money on glass anyways. If only I could afford the 50-135 right now...

i did pick today and picked k-x.
Wanted to buy k7 and tried that cam twice in shop, felt everything alright except for two things:

1. did not like the pictures out of it.
I did not see what i was looking for and it did not click for me. This was major reason for me to pass this cam.

2. too expensive compared to k-x, which has better iq. And image quality is what matters in the end.
no matter what type of dance a camera does if it does not produce goodies its not useful.

ps: my post is very subjective and the image quality that i spoke of is what i was looking for and may not match with what you are looking for.

i meant base iso.

ps: k-x high iso is pretty good though, since it is good i might venture into using iso 800 or 1600 sometimes, but i hardly ever go above iso 400.

Holy hell! Ok, if anyone ever catches me dancing and holding my camera next to my temple and pretending to take photographs of the sky. Shoot me!

I actually watched the whole thing. Was this made from some weird photography event? Otherwise, I found it strange that Ricoh was named as a sponsor - havent there been rumors floating around about a partnership with them and Pentax? Seemed like all the other companies named were for lighting and other things, which makes me think there is more to the Ricoh name being listed (if you didnt watch, a bunch of sponsor names pop up about 1/3 of the way through). If you can stomach it, haha!

Right now the voting percentage is approximately
K7 = 71% vs Kx = 29%

Of course most would pick K7 if money was not an issue.
It would be interesting to see if the question would go:
If you had to pick today, which camera (body only) would you pick
K7 @ $1049? or
Kx @ $599
then it would be quite a match up

Seeing as adorama is the only body-only seller option (ok, newegg too!), and they have it on ebay where you can get bing cashback of 8%, I think this poll would have to pin the Kx at $551 rather than the list price. If I didnt have a k20 maybe that would be a tougher choice, but having the k20 the Kx is a no brainer.

I guess some people were listening when I said the option that they might sell a k-x body only. it's just hard to pass on that option when people are preferring to get some better lenses for their camera bodies.

$800 price diff? Are you sure?
seriously dude, we don't all live in America. Are you that narrow minded to assume that everyone lives in the states and shops at newegg and amazon?

Are you able to read my location.. just on the left there..... thats it. Can you comprehend it next.. Australia... that country in the southern hemisphere.. you know with the kangaroos and s***...

Oh don't get confused by the Africa bit.. I spend 2/3 of my time here in a year. But I don't think pentax has a dealer in any 3rd world nations, and IF they did I'm sure the price diff would be higher again.

one of the cheapest places in Aus to get pentax gear:

Pentax Digital SLR Cameras - Buy CHEAP dSLR

K-7 with kit lens $1759
K-x with kit lens $739

well fk me it's over $800. $1020 dollars. I'm definately buying a K-x.

Yes indeed higher price here in the Philippines. I just inquired about the K7 in a retail store and its $1,812 converted to US dollars. K20D is $1,187. No Kx yet

It's all relative.

Take the difference in US to Aus prices. The thing you have to also consider is stuff like minimum wage. In the US what is it around $4 - $5? Over here in Aus minimum wage is around $13.50. So everything is priced accordingly. Don't expect the Americans to take that into consideration though!

Edit - sorry it seems to be around $7.25. So a little bit more than half ours. Except for Kansas where its $2.65 poor bastards!!!
