So basically, in terms of noise the k-x is the better camera for high iso settings?

How much does a k-7 go for?
Yes.

you meant the price right now? I have no idea. but some got it for $900 with kit lens. some body only for 900-1,100 .

if you are asking about how much ISO, the hardware limit and acceptable ISO range would be ISO3200. ISO6400 is only an extended ISO (software-based) which doesn't produced nice results unless you do extensive post-processing.

Here is the link
Amazon.com: Used and New: Pentax K-x 12.4 MP Digital SLR with 2.7-inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL and 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Lenses (Black)

Once you add it to cart (Sold by Amazon), you can see the price is $649 but ship in 1-2 months
Not true.

Well, the page you get says so but it is an overview page only. Once you really go to check-out, you'll see this:

US$ 552,98 (K-x white kit) free shipping, in-stock and one day shipping available.

That is most definitely not what happened when I did it. It added the black model to my cart, with expected delivery some time months in the future, and it stayed that way up to the point where I would need to commit to the credit card.

Not to be dense, but I don't seen any option for a white model with the 18-55mm and 55-300 lenses, and I don't get any option for a white model by adding the black one to my cart. I do see the white model offered on Amazon's site for around $550, but with the 18-55 mm lens, only.

By the way, the black one to which that link points now ships immediately, but for $849.

What am I missing?

I just added the white kx to my cart in Amazon (here). It looks like the current price for the white kx and kit is 549. It isn't available with any other lenses at present, at least not in the US.

I would get the 18-55 and 55-300 kit. You are paying very little more for 55-300.

The one I bought a few weeks ago was with the 18-55 and 55-300. That is probably a mistype in your post, because there is not a 16-55.

I guess hind sight is 20/20. I have a K-X, but now wish I would've just splurged on the K7. It was in my Amazon gold box in the $900 range for a day w/ the kit lens. Since buying the K-X, I find myself outside shooting a lot and it's really been rainy recently. The K7's weather proofing would've been very welcomed.

But, with the K-7 you would not have the high ISO option.

Like an idiot I have both, but I couldn't resist the 55-300 kit. I suppose it was worth it since in theory I only paid $300 for the Kx.

Both are really good cameras. I have to say I got the K7 first and the Kx feels very fragile in comparison. I'm sure it's not, but you can definitely feel a very distinct difference in the build quality.

I only shoot RAW usually try and shoot at ISO 100, so I'm not sure the Kx will be used much. 90% of the photos I take are on hiking/camping trips so the K7 is a much better camera for me.

I think it really depends on what you are using the camera for.

correction, it has a high ISO option. probably what you meant was k-x has a 1 stop HIGH ISO advantage, not HIGH ISO option. HIGH ISO option is a terminology used for cameras with ISO shooting capabilities above the normal ISO 200 shooting range.

I don't think anyone who has both is an idiot. These are two different cameras for different purposes. I use the K20d (couldn't justify another $1k for the K-7so quickly) where I want control and professional features, and I am using the K-x for traveling light--which includes leaving the flash.
