Resetting the filename counter-sequence for the pictures filename

All the file names have the format IMGPxxxx.jpg, the value for xxxx is 0314, when I got the camera was close to 0250, is there a way to reset the xxxx counter to 0000 ?, I understand after 9999 it will be 0000 again, but I do not want to wait another 8000 pictures , thanks

Most Pentax cameras have an option somewhere where you can tell the camera to start numbering after the last image on the card. See if you can find that option on your camera, then load up a card that has a file names IMPG0000.JPG on it. That should restart the numbering at IMPG0001.

What camera?
If it's a K7, you can reset the file # in the menu (see page 281 of your owners manual).
