Orientation of image not recorded by k100d.

When you upload images from the k100d into lightroom (and any other photo software), all images shot vertically show up horizontal, and have to turned around manually.

It there any firmware upgrade available that would fix this?

I don't know if this is an option in the K100, but in the K10 in the menu (think it's under custom menu), there is an option to have your vertical images automatically rotated for you.

The K100D doesn't have an orientation sensor, so the images all have the standard EXIF orientation. I use my image management software (iMatch) to change the EXIF orientation tag during my workflow. This way you don't have to rotate your images "losslesss" and they show up correctly in orientation aware software.

On my Ds you can modify the orientation when using RAW and it stays that way. Go into view mode hit the 4 way switch until the image is rotated - hit OK.

It is a pain in the vertical smile - but it works - but only in RAW - JPEG on the Ds is not all that smart.

It sounds inconsequential, but I'd definitely miss that feature on my k10d.

K10D has orientation sensor and images are rotated automatically by most of software.

You can change the orientation on the review in the camera, but I don't know if it is sticky when transfered. I just rotate the verticals in a batch after processing.

Cool. I never noticed that. I'll have to check it out.
