Pentax K-x w/M42 lenses - enabling IS, how?

When I put the screw mount adapter on my K-x, it disables image stabilization and it won't let me re-enable it. Maybe it has something to do with the pins being exposed? Any tips?

Do you have "Allow aperture ring" enabled in the custom menu?
