Just goes to show how much profit they are really making off this equipment.

I mean...saving $1000 on a lens? Imagine if they just lowered the prices in the first place, AU retailers would be getting a lot more sales that way.

Make profit on volume rather than price. Higher volume of sales means bulk purchasing means more profit again for the retailer.

Tell me more...

My experiences with my K7 (compared to my K10D) have convinced me not to "jump ship" now and I can feel the need for a 60-250

What's the process, do you deal with CRK directly?

Their website says that they will match prices on Sigma lenses too (xjjohnno mentioned it to me also).

I'm interested in the DA 55-300 (can afford) and the Bigma (probably can't afford at the moment), so I too would be interested in hearing what approach was taken to get a price match.

This is what I sent:

Subject: Lens price matching

Hello,

I read on the DPReview.com forums that CR Kennedy will price match lenses from other dealers such as B&H etc.

I would like to know whether this applies to Pentax lenses, or include Sigma lenses as well?

Thankyou,

James
And What I received in reply from Clem Kennedy:

I've bought a few lenses from CR Kennedy direct. All based on the price from either BnH, Adorama or Ebay Stores. They have matched them, no drama.

My local retail stores don't like me anymore as they know I deal with CR Kennedy directly.

Lenses like DA* 55mm, DA 35 Macro (3 copies), and Sigma EX HSM 50mm f1.4

To get the best value, email Clem on the day Aus exchange rate is on a high so that you can get the lowest price possible.

Hmmm...this is interesting! If we used B&H prices, do we convert them to Ozzies dollar so that CRK can match them? If so, this will be incredible!

The Sigma 105 is USD479 and after conversion it will be A$532. DCW is selling this exact same lens for A$799. That is a A$267 cost savings!

Yes, use a site like xe.com, enter the price + shipping and convert it, and quote that price to Clem and they will match it.

And CRK will accept payment such as Bpay and credit card? How much does CRK charge to deliver the stuff?

Now will Maxwell International (Tamron distributor) also match prices? I wanted that Tamron 18-250 lens as my travel lens.

Not checked on Maxwell.

As far as I know, CC or Cheque are all they advertise for enquiries, but if you ask you could probably do DD or Bpay.

Shipping is a flat rate by courier...around $15 I think.

Thanks James.

And when CRK match prices, that include accessories such as LI-90 batteries and battery grip right?

I assume it extends to accessories, not just bodies and lenses.

Glad I could help you.

You might also want to link to the site you're referencing for the US price.

CRK's price match extends to accessories as well; I bought a spare D-LI90 when I purchased the 60-250.

I paid with my CC.

The lenses I want to source now are the silver FA Limited, but I dunno if CRK stock those........ (I still regret the time I chose not to buy them when I was in Japan 2 years ago)

You should probably email him and ask again. Maybe he was busy...

I ordered my 60-250 and D-LI90 on Thurday morning (15th Oct) and it was delivered Monday 9am (19th Oct).
