K-7 pricing in Australia

Below is an AU grey importer selling the K-7 for $1220 (body only).

Pentax K7 Body Only Digital SLR Cameras

As we all know, CR Kennedy in AU will price match any grey importer.

How reliable are they though? for $1250 I think it's a fair price - and if I wasn't saving for a DA* 60-250 I would jump at this.

They sell the lenses and bodies with cheaper price compared to Michael's Camera or CameraLane in Melb..

Are you sure that applies to camera purchases like the K7?

Unless I am wrong, I think the price match policy only applies to Sigma lenses. That's the only product line where price matching of grey imports is mentioned on their website.

I have emailed CRK and they will match prices on Pentax as well. I do know someone who bought a DA* 300mm (from memory) with no problems.

What did the email say, especially in terms of how the procedure to obtain a price-match should work?

Suddenly those DA*'s look more interesting.

I just emailed sales with an enquiry about price matching Pentax equipment. I got an email from Ted Kennedy saying it would be no problem.

All you need to do is quote the price including shipping from your selected store (in my case B&H) and say you would like to get the price matched.

Bought the k-7 from vanbar for A$1250 (body only). I think this is a good price. Other online retailers like DCW, Cameraction, Digital funstuff, etc are selling at $15XX.

Unfortunately that $1250 price was a clearance sale price and the sale's over. The price is now back to $1450, which is comparable to everyone else.

Got my K20 from DWI for $845, arrived in 3or 4 days, no problems and a great price. But if Kennedy's will match thier price I would go for it, could be better for warranty issues later on.

As I have said they will match any Pentax lens. The DA* 300mm a friend bought saved him over $1000 buying from CRK compared to somewhere else in AU.

Yes they will! I helped my friend to get the DA*55 for around AUD900+ from memory.

I bought my 60-250 from CRK on a price match; saved me about $1300 off the exorbitant retail price.

The whole thing is weird... imagine undercutting your own distribution network. If i was a retailer then i would not be pleased with CRK.

It is a good result for the end customer though. And it's better to keep the money in the country (even though the USA sure could do with every dollar at the moment).
