Man....that lens is USD1299 which is equiv to A$1443. The price is soooooo reasonable it will be crazy not to get this lens!!

If only I know of this CRK price matching thingy last year and had not bought myself the Tamron 70-200/f2.8

Edit: DCW is selling this for A$2849! Look at the savings!

I haven't had a chance to take it out for a spin yet. There's a Thai water festival on at Parramatta this Saturday, so I'll give it a good run then.

I've bought a few lenses from CR Kennedy direct. All based on the price from either BnH, Adorama or Ebay Stores. They have matched them, no drama.
They are now being VERY clear they no longer do this, so I guess its back to ebay/adorama/bhphoto..

Thats sad! Guess I need to check their website to see whats the latest news... maybe we announced too much.. and the local retailers are not happy with them.

no change on the website, they still match (if they can) through the dealer network, but they do not (and they say never did) sell directly to customers undercutting the retail network..

And they only match through a retailer (not direct) grey market stores in australia as it clearly says on their website (and only if they can) not ebay or American stores..

Saying they won't undercut their dealers isn't true, because i've emailed them and they have no worries doing it, They just don't advertise the fact.

Something STILL does not add up.

How can it be cheaper for us to import 1 lens from B+H than the wholsaler is supposedly paying per unit to import thousands of them?

If a 60-250 is $1,300US RETAIL at B+H, please explain how it sells for near $2,500 retail in OZ? Even if CRK is paying full retail from B+H (which they are not) it should still be cheaper.

Someone, somewhere is having a lend of us. Same goes for TV's, I can walk into a store here and but a 1080p brand name LCD (not some generic shit brand, talking Sharp, Panasonic etc) at a masive 50 inches for about $1300AUD. What are you paying? $3500??

WHAT THE HELL.

THose who are brave, go here ........

Samsung 1080p 46 inch ... 1K.

I'm only presuming that all retailers have a set price and went it comes to consumer's prices its

A.Country that's were the priorities to send stock
B.Population and the size of the market
C.Mark-up's

We here in the land of milk and honey are a little fish in a bid pond so we are at a disadvantage

As it goes with everything available consumer power is absolute

cheers

extra steps, extra markups

It was the same with Nikon, a local company called maxwells purchased from them and retailers here had to buy from maxwells.. Nikon eventually ended that relationship and sell direct to the retailers.. Though prices are still much higher here on some items, even after factoring in GST and shipping cost..
