I've just dragged my K10 around the English Lake District in 'traditional' weather for these parts - heavy rain and gales.

And even with the unsealed kit lens I have had no problems, although I'm a bit more careful ( but not paranoid ) with that rather than the 50-135 DA, which when being used in the full fury of a late English summer brought looks of horror from Canikon users who were nearly always covering their cameras in supermarket bags or leaving them in their bags. I rarely use a bag, I carry the camera over my shoulder, tripod on a strap on the other shoulder and other lenses in LowePro pouches on a belt.

So my stuff gets wet, and I have also dropped it in a river.

I took my unsealed k100d in rainy day more than one time with no problem.
It get wet a lots of time but I manage to cover it when not in use. ( I get wet too)
On time I forgot it outside under the rain it come in with pudle of water under the acl screen.
I just remouved the lens, battery, and SD card and alowed it to dry on a hot oven. it work like a new....
If the unsealed k100d can take this much abuse I dont see why you can get into trouble whit the k10 k20 or k200d.

Camera has been rained on (K7 and K10D). No problems. The K7 was also immersed into a stream (about halfway up the back LCD, with no problems. I think it also helped I had a DA* lens on. I think if there hadn't been a weathersealed lens on, I would have been in trouble. Recommend revising the poll. Something along the lines of camera submerged or immersed.

And another K200D user (former) who didn't have prob's when wet and with both sealed lens (16-50) and not (50-200, A 70-210!)

I've gotten my K20 a litte wet w/o prob's but not saked yet.

cheers

We had a wet and rainy Halloween out here in the Northeast yesterday. I went out with my kids toting my K200D and DA* 50-135, and it was satisfying not having to worry about the weather (the amazing IQ of the 50-135 doesn't hurt either). Everything got soaked, but was no worse for the wear. Love the weather-sealing. I am eying the WR 18-55 kit lens as a cheap wide angle weather resistant lens.

Shamu got me at seaworld 2 times before I got out of there, still have a droplet inside my LCD but never a problem.
That happened to me when I was using a KX (film - 70's). I spent over half the show wiping down and cleaning salt off the camera and lens. PITA.

Overall my bodies have held up extremely to punishing rain, hosing, washing.

my k10d has never had any problems

my k20d did well for three months in CR until a dunk near a waterfall. It was sent into pentax and repaired due to a faulty seal. Got it back and continues to perform as expected.

K100D is not on the list, but I have had it out in the rain with a hanky on top to stop the big drips. Weather sealing is all good and well, but the thing that annoys me the most is the rain on the lens!

K-7 taken into the flooding rains recently in Atlanta, GA with no problems. I was also using the DA*16-50 and DA*50-135 weather sealed lenses.

Ummmm...you forgot the K200D, also weather-sealed.
It's on the bottom, but don't have the other choices the the other cameras have.

The K100D is not advertised to be weather sealed.

Check it:
took my unsealed ZX 60 film camera to a water park back in '04. No it did not get soaked, but it was getting wet the whole time I was shooting. Pretty much just a light mist here and there. A month later I took it out and the AF motor is jammed. It make a buzzing noise even to this day......... Don't know if that caused it........ it worked fine before I took it to the water park....... camera was never dropped or heavily used......

No problems here

Light rain with K10 was no problem, using (at least) Sigma 17-70.

No problem with dust at airshows. Lots of dust in the air owing to legions of trampling feet, prop wash, jet wash, and much of this on open fields. I'm feeling pretty gritty at the end of the day but the camera and lenses are fine. I just use the rocket to blow the dust off the exterior before I put the gear away in the bag.

I bought a new WR kit lens for a three-week London holiday and never mounted it. Climate change.

I basically live in a rain forest so it's kinda hard to get away from the rain. I keep a plastic bag with my kit in case things really starts to get wet. I know my kit is supposed to be weather sealed but I'd rather have that as insurance rather than test it out....
Absolutely. Only an idiot would push the envelope.
