Weather sealing (with poll)

I know there have been several threads on the quality of the weather sealing on the Pentax cameras and how well they hold up, but I haven't seen a poll yet. I think being able to see this in a poll form would help people better decide if it is safe to take their camera out in bad weather.

Edit: Please vote only if you had the camera out with weather sealed (WR or WR DA* lenses). Reporting damage with a non-WR lens could skew the results. This is a highly scientific study, after all

I basically live in a rain forest so it's kinda hard to get away from the rain. I keep a plastic bag with my kit in case things really starts to get wet. I know my kit is supposed to be weather sealed but I'd rather have that as insurance rather than test it out....

It'd be interesting to hear from those who have used it in rain and have experienced problems, and whether they were with WR or non-WR lenses (but I'm not talking about having it dunked in water or any other similar accident of the sort).

There is another environmental factor that is not included in this poll; and that is DUST.

I have taken my K10D in VERY dustry conditions (on an iron ore site) and had no problems. Not even a dirty sensor and I changed lenses quite a few times.

for sure. I have k200d, it was exposed to heavy rain few times with kit lens and nothing happened.

Oops, thought the poll had an entry for k200D - no problems, looks like that is my vote above - it is in error.

I have had my K200D in the rain and down to the surf at the beach (only dSLR around) with no problems.

I took the k10 and DA* 16-50 behind the Moul Falls waterfall in Wells-Gray Provincial Park here in British Columbia. I was soaked. So was the camera. It worked just fine. This was perhaps equivalent to monsoon rains, definitely more than any rain I have ever encountered, except in the middle of a thunder storm.

You can see two people on the path I followed to the right of the falls. Camera and I went all the way to the left and further. The wettest part was the climb up near the top of the trail.

I have been in rain almost every time I took my camera outside this past summer. I often take my camera in my kayak and gets occasional drip and splash water on it with no problems so far. I do try to keep the water to a minimum whether in rain or boat but a couple of times it got pretty wet. Weather sealing is well worth having. I suppose to really find out I should buy a non sealed camera and treat it the same and see if it holds up but I don't have that kind of disposable money.

I too have a K200D and have taken it out several times (upwards of 20) times in rain varying from a light sprinkle to full-on tropical storm, and I haven't experienced any problems yet.

I generally use weather-sealed lenses (the DA* line), although I've also used my D-FA 100 macro shielded as much as possible with my body and manually-focused before going outside as well as a few other non-sealed lenses. But with the DA* lenses, I walk around as if it weren't raining at all. I remember taking one loooong walk with the camera and the DA*200 in pouring rain most of the time. I kept the camera pointed down and against my body when I wasn't shooting, but otherwise it was exposed. There were absolutely no ill effects.

You need a selection for the K200D in rain and no problems. I have used my K200D in the rain many times without any problems. I have used my Tammy 17-50/f2.8 a couple of times in lite rain with no problems, but I hope to get the WR version of the DA 18-55 as soon as I can convince the wife that its a good idea.

Shamu got me at seaworld 2 times before I got out of there, still have a droplet inside my LCD but never a problem.
