I normally carry more than one body, one normally has a strap (an old cotton webbing army general purpose strap) that is long enough to allow it to be worn in the same manner as say a messenger bag strap. the other usually has a wrist strap. I have several tripod mounted leather wrist straps from Gordy's so they are easily moved from one body to another. I dont care for the standard neck straps that come with cameras, nor do I care for using some overly engineered "system" ie: the black rapid stuff, but I wont handle a camera without some sort of protection from dropping it.

I made a custom shoulder strap from a wide guitar strap (DiMarzio) attached to tripod socket so it's quick releaseable. So strap on - strap off is very easy for me. Also shoulderstrap is more comfortable to carry as camera doesn't bounce up and down on your chest

And I'm loving it!

If I don't have the strap around my neck, I hold the camera with the strap over my arm.

Idea is, if I let go of the camera, I should be able to save it by quickly lifting my arm.

Sorry about the clothes line and washing trolley. Makes my DL look like it's got antennas.

Yep....Gotta get my photos back to Jupiter somehow !

And, a lot of years ago, a mate of mine left his Pentax in a taxi. Never saw it again.

I'd say a strap would have saved him the replacement costs.

Chromo.

Man, I've never used a strap. My favourite thing about Pentax cameras - all five I've owned - is how well they fit in the hand. Strap, schmap!
