I say not ABOUT JPEG single picture with pack. I say about RAW files. The situation is the same as D300 or D90. It's good cameras to make B&W photos. and landscapes.

To get REALLY good colours are rather problematic. All cameras with Sony CMOS sensor has the same problem. Yes, the noise is lower, but the end picture is worse for my eyes than CCD or K-7's photos (for example). Samsung sensor has better colour filters and no in RAW NR till high ISO. The circuitry engineering is better too. The former Israel military company worked under this sensor.

One man (from Russian penta-club, professional wedding photographer and I can say GOOD photographer) switched to Nikon D300 and D3 from k10 and K20D.

The result:
1. Photos became more accurate and AF is brilliant, but colours - worse, the real problem is skintones, he makes more B&W photos. The real problem = red, green and yellow.
No time to correct every photo in PHOTO convertor. To change WB is not the way. WB can't help with colours. Only tune in convertor with colour editor.

The photos either pale, or more saturated. The colours lie.

2. The photos are not worse, but lost the inner spirit of Pentax lenses...More emasculated.

Re: Packet

The red does look like it has an orange/yellow like tint to it and the yellow a slight hint of green.

But even Canon cmos sensor have "issues" - I don't think anything that is produced digitally can be 100% accurate.

The average joe soap "viewing" the pics wouldn't even notice.

yes you are very much correct. If someone does search at dpr canon forums about skin color problems, he will be surprised to see how many people complain about it.

In my opinion the test i put forward, after cleaning up yellows do look more pure and clear, but in reality it never is that pure. The dull yellow is more accurate presentation.

anyway, i promised to put exif of photo i posted so here it is:

I don't say that it's really bad, but K-x sensor is real CMOS sensor.
As we saw in Canon or Nikon cameras before.

The tastes differ. I can say that I like (BUT SOMETIMES!!!) surrealistic BRIGHT photos from CMOS...And I hate pale photos from CMOS.

I have two ISO200 shots here, taken by Kx and K7 in RAW w/ same setting and same lens, converted by the new Pentax software comes w/ Kx. Other than the exposure difference (Kx meters a bit longer thus brighter result), I don't see much color difference:

Kx at ISO200, 100%:

K7 at ISO200, 100%:

I tried the Kx camera, very shortly of course. The white balance is pretty similar to the K7, much improved over the K20D or Km. To be honest, if you don't need those goodies from K7 (metal and weather-sealed body, quieter shutter, dedicated battery and etc.), the Kx is a very good choice. As the TS demonstrated, under low light, Kx can be much better than K7 in noise control, which is a big plus to many users.

Here are two same shots taken at ISO3200, also RAW converted, 100% crop.
Kx at ISO3200:

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be yellow-green. I'd have a hard time believing in a green cast THAT bad...

The K-m shot there looks oversaturated.
