Not in Japan but want to buy a orange/purple/etc K-x?

If you are outside of Japan, but want to buy a K-x in one of the 96 extra body colours available there, this guy on Flickr, via eBay, is offering a service to order and deliver you one.

His example orange one:

His description of his offer:

Oh, and just for kicks I've made an ebay listing if you want the special colors I'll order it it and send it to you. The price, btw, is my costs+$50. Paypal, ebay fees, and shipping add up unfortunately.
Pentax K-x Orange+Black (I love it!) on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I have nothing to do with this guy, so ask him any questions directly.

It's interesting that there seems to be this sort of market developing for those colourful K-x's. I wonder what sort of demand he has had so far.

FYI only, caveat emptor etc etc.

I quite like some of these colours too. I made these up in the simulator on the JP K-x mini-site:

The green works really well with the silver FA43, but the red K-x with the black 55-300 looks very cool too.

Fanta colour looks cool but the olive one is real smooth.
Thanks for sharing this info.

After JP, I reckon they should roll out the 100 colours option in other Asia-Pacific markets - like Korea, China - and Australia. It would be a big hit.

Cool.

But the multicoloured K-x prices seem a bit high - AUD$989 at today's exchange rate for a K-x w. 19-55 kit lens:
japan exposures | films and more (formerly Megaperls Japan Webshop)

vs local prices for the same kit (in less colours) at about $800 or less

However AUD $1,236 for the rainbow K-x with 18-55mm & 55-300mm isn't too bad:
japan exposures | films and more (formerly Megaperls Japan Webshop)

since that kit isn't available in AU yet.

And I guess the weird colour combinations are very collectible, and may be a good investment.

Why don't you start a *What color do you want your Kx to be?* poll.

yeah that's exactly what I'll be getting.

I figured it would look 'retro' and classy

We will see however just how good it is. At least it will be different.

Are you aware that all Pentax DSLRs have multiple language options for the menu display, which are user changeable?

The operating manual for Pentax cameras sold in Japan would be in Japanese but I believe that can be exchanged for the English version at the Pentax Forum in Shinjuku.

I never knew that.
Might try to see if I can get the English one for my K10, then.
Wonder if it has to be bought at the Pentax Forum for this to be the case...
