K-x only ships with the DA L kit lens ?

Aspiring K-x buyers should note, so far I've only seen the K-x offered in kits with the lighter DA L version of the 18-55 lens (the 50-200 extra zoom bundle for $100 more is also DA L). I wonder how this stacks up to the AL II version ? Will the K-x also be offered bundled with the AL II version of the 18-55 ?

As has been noted elsewhere, the DA L 18-55 is optically the same as the 18-55 mkII. The differences are that the DA L has a plastic (rather than metal) mount, no lens hood, and no Quick-shift. Otherwise, it's a bonny lens...

Seconded. It performs very well indeed. It is optically identical to it's sister lens the AL II.

Pentax are a bit weird though - now they have THREE current 18-55 kit lens, all optically the same: the WR, the AL II, and now the DAL.

Just a nit - the DA-L (kit lens for K-m, released over a year ago) came *before* the WR (released along with for K-7, just a few months ago).

Are there three variations of the 50-200 and 55-300 as well?

50-200, yes, 55-300 doesn't have a WR.
