i've got the standard (white colour) sanyo charger that came in a kit with the eneloop AA batteries. IIRC, a full charge takes 10 or 12 hours. if i buy imedions, would it be roughly the same number of hours?

If you use Eneloops don't take your Pentax into 'Camera Electronic' in Perth - they insisted that they damage the camera (???) (and made sure to argue the point/tell me that I knew nothing).

They also told me off for using a Pentax-A 50mm lens and said that I "should really think about buying some better lenses".

Edit : This was from their service department, not salespeople.

That's appalling! Next visit, tell them you'd prefer to speak to the "camera technician", instead of the the "toaster mechanic" you spoke to last time.

that's shocking. and they call themselves camera experts? the Pentax 50mm are one of the best classic lenses around and eneloops are one of the best batteries around.

Interesting. That was done back in May 2009.

Anyone seen similar more recent test reports comparing any of the 'known' brands with Ultracell 2000mAh LSD equivalents from Aldi stores?

My own non-methodical layperson user experience with several sets of each has the Ultracells easily standing up as long as genuine eneloops (in cameras, flashes, plus other toys), and at AUD16 v AUD21 per set it's been a no brainer.
And they walk all over Varta LSDs too for charge-to-charge grunt.
