I wouldn't mind the k-x sensor in the k-7 so long as the performance remained the same. However (and I may be in the minority here), I like the samsung sensor for what it offers and having a k-x sensor in a second k-7 would be an ideal second body.

Andrew, I too like the K20D sensor at or below 400. Above that you see issues. You can pull off a good ISO1600 shot and even 3200 but you sure have to work at it.

At ISO 100, it's probably the best sensor we have seen for daytime, good light outdoor shooting. But there's so much more to photography than that.

That's my thinking too, Peter. I moved to the k-7 from a k10d, so high ISO on the k-7 has been wonderful compared to what I was used to. But as I get sucked in to photographing more and more events at work, and because I loath my flash, I'm shooting at ISO 800 and beyond more than I ever used to. That k-x sensor is looking very appealing.

For low ISO landscapes though (which is what I do most of the time), I can't say I'd want anything different at this point.

I believe that Sony also has a 14mp version of the sensor used in the K-x. I expect to see the 14mp Sony in a K-8. I can't see Pentax dropping K-8 resolution to 12mp.

Yes, the Kx sensor test results at high ISO look fantastic on imaging resources!

I'd be most interested in using the k20d sensor technology on a chip with 1/3rd the resolution, all stuffed into a K7 body.

pentax should replace k7 with camera with something similar to kx. Kx is already selling well, imagine body like k7 with such camera would be very profitable for company. Pentax need something like this to grab market share. Time is money.

Both have their positives. My plan is to continue using the K-7 as the main camera and get a K-x for the places the K-7 cannot go, and also as a backup.

This is a hard one to answer, if they had both options when I bought the k7 then yes I would have bought the one with the Sony (k-x/d90) sensor in it.

Now that I already own a k-7 I wouldn't bother losing too much money and selling it to buy a revision 2 with the different sensor..

I voted yes though as if I could choose (disregarding money lost on k7) I would prefer the Sony sensor..

what you said is what my feelings too. I think if k-x was present when k7 was launched, or in other words if both were launched together, choice will be very difficult.

when i looked at k7 around its launch, i was in mood to update, but since it was not what i was looking for i decided to wait.
Thinking now i am glad i waited.

Anyway kx is adding lots of new buyer, i have made two of my friends to join kx club. :-D

(actually three to pentax because one of my friends is getting my k100d + 50mm f1.2 as a gift).

I'm not convinced yet. I still see too many K-x photos that don't appeal to me. I won't be surprised if the Samsung sensor comes out with the better reputation in the end. Most photos are not taken at ISO 3200.

The K-7 with the K20D sensor would have been cool by me as well.
