Pentax K7 Price Trend

Looks like the K7 price has stabilized at around $1100 at most US stores (body only). Given the past trends, any insight into when the price will start dropping, especially since the Thanksgiving and Christmas season is upon us?

Its been bouncing between 1000-1150 for the past few weeks. It seems that many US suppliers now have the 'kit' with the 18-55WR. This seems to be the best value at about $1125 (give or take). I suspect we will see some minor fluctuations in price as supply varies, but I think it's safe to say it won't be heading under $1000 in the near future. As soon as I am able to pull the funds together I will be buying.

The kit is truly a great deal. The DA 18-55 WR is a nice little lens, and since I got it to replace the original 18-55, it's a big step up in optical quality and build quality. I woudln't have regretted buying the kit if it cost $100 more than the body alone.

But I did much better than that! I snagged the kit when Amazon had it for $1101, and the K-7 body alone was $1108. So I basically got paid $7 to take a new lens.

It does seem like prices have stabilized a lot. We saw prices as low as $1020 (on Amazon, anyway) during October when the instant rebate was in force. Now that the instant saving shas expired, prices are a bit higher.

It went to as low as 1020 and since then it's been going up until 1100 now, not surprised since I've seen a lot of people getting a K-7 when it was under the 1100 price. It's been stable at 1100 lately and I'm glad I bought mine for 1050 at Newegg when it was that low.

Don't know when the price will drop again, but I'm not buying it until it does. I'm just more stubborn than I am in need of a new camera I guess.
I'm going to buy it through Amazon no matter what (gift certificates + discount for using Amazon card) so I'm waiting until they drop their prices further...

Amazon's lowest price on the body only was $1,050
Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video (Body Only)

Amazon's lowest price on the kit was $1,102
Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video with DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Weather Resistant Lens

Right now with the Amazon price for the body being $1,089.95 and the kit being $1,114.98, the kit is clearly the better deal by far.

Actually, as stated above, the body only was at one point available directly from Amazon for $1020. That's the low point.

Alright, the OP is in trouble. I decide to stop putting off the inevitable. I just bought the K-7/WR 18-55 combo from Amazon. This is the camera that made me switch to Pentax from Olympus (it's my 2009 E-1). The kit puts the body price at just around $1000 give or take. Not sure there is another current DSLR in the same league for that price point.
