K-x Won't Go To ISO 100?

Does anyone else have a problem with their K-x not going to ISO 100? I have expanded sensitivity on, and can reach ISO 12,800 just fine. But there dial of ISO speeds stops at ISO 200. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does my K-x have some kind of unheard-of firmware bug? The funny thing is I was able to get ISO 100 a couple times since my purchase of the camera, but now I'm not able to ever obtain it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I have never used the K-x so im simply assuming..... but AFAIK all pentax camera's can not go to ISO 100 with active D range *ON.* Therefor I'm guessing you unknowingly have it turned on. Turn that off and ISO 100 should become accessible again.

If it's anything like the K-7, then ISO 100 is unavailable when Highlight Correction is turned on. Do you have that turned on in your D-Range settings?

Yeatzee and aerodave, you are both right, and thank you for fixing my bonehead error! Highlight Correction is now off, and ISO 100 is available. I don't think there's anything else to say but thanks!

its not native to the sensor, you'll probably find 100iso has reduced bits or dynamic range.

From the ephotozine review:

Expandable ISO is a feature being more commonly seen on DSLRs and Pentax have actually given us a reason why they've done it on the K-x. In a paper from Pentax Japan, they state that “ISO100 limits the dynamic range and therefore increases the likelihood of whitewash.” continuing with “Lower ISO equals lower gain which doesn't necessarily mean higher quality.”

Under controlled lighting, yes, it might be ideal, especially with low contrast scenes.

One reason why the left it in.
