Software glitch

After installing the K100D firmware update, downloaded from Pentax official site, the camera refused to start up. Pentax agent in Shanghai said update error was not covered by warranty. What's more, they admitted they didn't know how to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Your help will be most appreciated. Thanks

Unless Shanghai has some very poorly written consumer laws, it IS covered by warranty, unless ofcourse, you did something stupid like cutting the power during flash.

If doing the flash procedure again doesn't work, it will probably have to be shipped to a service center for re-flashing or change of motherboard.

Thank you for your reply. Shanghai has a great consumer protection law, except there is no agency to enforce it. And could you please explain what is "flash" procedure? Thanks again for you help.

Flashing is the process of writing the firmware to the chip. (So try holding the menu button while you power on the camera, and the firmware file still on the memory card.)
