I'm another noob who joined here after buying the K-x. Mine showed up yesterday. So far I like it, although coming from Nikon the lens focusing noises (particularly on the 55-300) are loud! Looking forward to pickup up a nice prime or two to play with soon...

And for anyone wondering what prime lens to get first;
go for the FA 50mm f1.4, you're not a Pentaxian till you have one :P With the kx you could shoot in candle light just fine :P

Well, I'm new here, too.
Bought my k-x a few weeks ago.
A few days later I bought a Tamron 28-75 2.8 for portraits, lowlight etc.

I'm really happy with this configuration so far.
Eneloops are also working fine here.

I am new as well, I still have my pentax me and k1000 and a couple of lenses from years ago. I had been looking at pentax dslr's for a few years now so I could use the lenses if I wanted to, but could not justify the price. I had a Fuji Finepix s6500fd that has served me well the last few years.

When I heard about the k-x and the new cmos sensor as well as the cost being retail $650 I started looking into it more.

Thanks to this forum I found a good deal last week and snagged one, and have been completely happy with the quality of the pictures and the options it has for this price point.

I'm brand new here ... however instead of the K-x bringing me here, this forum brought me to the K-x.

Not new to photography or SLRs, but this is my first digital SLR. I just bout it online today and hopefully will receive it on Tuesday next week!

a tech/broadband forum i frequent which has a fairly busy photography sub forum, always has recommendations for the Pentax K-x over Nikon D3000/5000 Canon 500D etc etc especially for new entries into the dSLR market.

Well done pentax, great camera, great price, and great brand recognition with still what is comparatively minimal marketing!
