I got mine yesterday and the first thing I did was compare the image quality to that of my K10D. The K10D died recently, so I only had one shot from which I could make a direct comparison - a colored world wall map that I use to check new lenses. Both were taken with the same lens, at base ISO in RAW and viewed in LR at the default settings. IMO the K-x IQ is at least as good as the K10D. The level of sharpness, which many people have expressed concern about, was slightly better on the K-x. The colors looked very close with the K10D providing slightly more saturation for some colors.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the K-x and believe that it's a worthy replacement for the K10D. I previously test drove the K20D and K7, but for my purposes, neither provided enough of an upgrade to justify replacing the K10D.

Kx is the left, isn't it? Funny, without knowing which is which it is actually quite difficult. I am basing it on the color output, the left looks like a Kx jpeg. Also, these are from imaging resource, thought that should be mentioned...

I can also kind of tell because of the numbers behind the olive oil bottle (under the label). I assume they probably use a 50mm lens, creating a different angle of view, necessitating a different distance of the camera to the subject, which would move those numbers below the label for the Kx, and behind the label for the D700. If I am wrong correct me!

Yes to both of the comments above...you can really see the smearing of the D700 image on the mosaic label of the right vinegar bottle - more detail is retained in the K-x in the same area.

K-x is sharper even without sharp and has lower noise at base ISO.

It's strange - at f5.6 K-x is better, at f8 - D300s.
The different samples of Sigma 70 for Pentax and Nikon.
