k200d still for sale. Why?

I know that the k200d was supposedly discontinued several months ago but why is it still on the american site? They say it's out of stock but still. Why even advertise it any more?

What they are supposed to do with produced but not sold cameras yet? Throw'em into trash?

You can still buy new, in the box cameras of every digital SLR that Pentax has produced, all the way back to the *ist. Some of them are really expensive at this point. The K200's strong point is that it is the cheapest weather sealed camera available. Amazon doesn't have any new copies through them, but they often do through the amazon marketplace.

They must move the old stock, as cbaytan said, htey cant just throw them away!

Besides, they are of great value. yes, they are now getting more obsolete due to the K-x, etc. But they make a great backup camera and they do have an advantage over the K-x in that they are weather sealed.

I just find it surprising that they had that much in inventory. They must not have predicted very well how the camera was going to sell.

I agree, the camera is a great value. I love my k200d.
