Taking that much money off is pretty surprising.
I'd say you almost definitely got a return and they had just been hoping nobody would notice.

I am not going to buy a K7 until I can get the body only for $999.99 or less.
Even that is more money than I would like to spend, but it is the most I am comfortable with.

It's $1069 at newegg with the 18-55 WR with the $100 rebate. Possibly squeeze it down to $1019 if you can argue the coupon which ends today. Shipping Extra.
Oh, no, I missed reading your reply, now, the rebate is over. It is now listed as 1299 Cdn. I better keep watching for it; hopefully, it will be in time for my Xmas present.

Pretty doubtful - they're not legally allowed to sell returns as new product. More likely, they didn't know enough to understand that the shutter count was completely normal (a lot of new Pentax DSLRs show shutter counts significantly higher than that), and they presumed that an innocent shipping mistake was made when it wasn't.

Yeah, I doubt it was a return, but it could have been. No problem either way, still have the factory warranty and every thing seems to be in spec. It did surprise my they came off so much so quick considering they had open boxes for around $960
