Another (different) battery question

I've been using Duracell precharged batteries in my K200D since I got it. I have two sets of four with white tops, that I think are probably really Eneloops. My wife recently found two-packs of the Duracells on sale and bought them (at two different stores). She didn't know to check the tips, so now I have a set that has two white ones and two black ones.

I am always careful to keep the batteries together as a set, charging and using the same four together. But here is my question. Does anyone know if the white- and black-topped Duracells are similar enough to use them as a set, assuming I always keep those four together? I'm tempted to use them together, but reserve them for the flash rather than the camera.

Mixing btteries of the same basic type shouldn't be a problem in the camera, but if your charger is a "dumb" charger that doens't read each cell's state individually, I wouldn't recommend it - chance are they cells discharge at different rates, and charging them together will results in either the faster-discharging cells not being completely charged, or the slower-discharging cells being overcharged.

Did you look to see if they're made in Japan or China? Sony had been selling the white-tipped pre-charged version made in Japan, but just recently started selling a dark-tipped pre-charged Chinese version in exactly the same packaging.

Thanks for your responses. I have a "smart enough" charger. I have one that charges 4 batteries in two pairs (with two separate ready lights). That will allow me to do the white- and black-tipped cells together. In fact, I gave the set of four a first charge last night, and there was over an hour difference in the time it took the two types to finish. I don't remember which finished first, but I suspect that has more to do with which were on the shelf at the store longer anyway.

Interesting that there are black-tipped Sanyos. I didn't know that, and I was under the impression that black-tipped Duracells were not made by Sanyo. But that all came from internet hearsay. My Duracells do say Japan on the white-tipped ones and China on the black-tipped ones.
