K110D Cosina manual lenses

With these lenses, with the camera automaticly set to AV (Aprtur Priorty)(Auto Expose)? Cannot access SCN or any other button settings. Tried all menu setting changes and Fn menu. Any help appreciated.

What happens if you put the kit lens back on or even just take the lens off?

I imagine that you've checked the batteries already, if not that's the first place that I'd start looking.

I have several old lenses and have never had any problems like that with them

I purchased body only. I have a hunch it's to do with "A" ring on the lenses.

Have you went into the custom menu, using aperture ring, set it to Permitted? If not you need to change that, and then see if it works, i had the same problem when i first recd my K110D

I've tried setting the custom settings to permitted and not permitted, same result.

then I'd try just setting the aperture manually, just to see what happens.

Plus make sure that all the contacts are clean.

Is it possible for you to bring it to a camera store and try another lens?

The camera takes excelent pictures, just can't seem to get off of this setting. I can adjust arperature and shutter speed to help in low light. I have 3 cosina lenses from my old K1000 camera. They all work the same way. The camera show same thing even with no lens mounted.

K110D with consina lenses

Took camera into camera shop. Had to put on a couple of different pentax compatable lenses before camera would work properly. (AF or MF) It seems some
lenses don't quite fit the bill as far as being compatable. One lens was actually a
pentax AF lens, but the auto focus didn't work. So for now i'm using the lenses I have until I can raise the bread for a new lens, may have to be a pentex.

You need to do 2 things, first set the camera to use apature ring permitted and second you can only work in Manual mode, with matched needle (effectively) metering,or at full apature in automatic mode.

the camera will work only in those modes with the use apature ring permitted
