KX Macro Mode Setting

What does the "Macro Setting" on the Pentax KX do?

Does it require the use of a Macro Lens ?

If you know how to use a DSLR, those mode pretty much useless. It pretty much sets a smaller aperture number(higher F#) for you. You can do it all with Av mode.
