I just got my white K-x. I prefer to pick up red on the hand grip but I don't want to wait and special order from Japan

The white K-x is beautiful as others have noted, especially Frank. I am a bit weary of the build material with light plastic as I get used to the sturdy material as in the K20D, K10D and I don't think it matches the build material as in the K100D that I had. More use will tell. The LCD is very useful with the latest update on the screen user interface and I don't seem to mind the missing of red dot in focusing and the top LCD.
Test pictures come out decent even for the DA-L 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Thanks,
Hin

My Question is,
1). What color will you choose (to help me)?
2). If you already have the camera / already order it (in transit), what color do you purchase? Why?
Search flickr for K-x, there are a number of shots of store displays and such showing a range of models, plus more and more people are posting shots of their open 100 Styles cameras.

The simulator is only so-so, and really inaccurate for the metallic colors.

Silver is way cooler in real life, I've seen a metallic yellow one that is kinda neat. My own was orange+black. Beige has something to be said for it, as well as yellow+black.

My advice is to be really careful with the non-black grips, they can appear tacky, though brown sometimes works, and it's sometimes ok if they are the same color as the camera.

Other than that it's totally a matter of personal taste and how wild you wanna go. Pentax have done a really excellent job as there really is a combo for every personality.

Last, consider how it will look with a silver lens if you ever have aspirations to own a FA limited. Some colors are much better with black lenses, some others work quite well with silver.

I feel you there. I just had to purchase it the moment I picked it up, and the only one available at that time in NYC was the black one. Turns out the color of the camera doesn't really matter though, all that matters is what you can do with it!

For those of you who are able, either living in Japan or through friends there, to order the wider variety of colors, are you also able to order with different lenses in the base/kit package? The Japanese webpage that allows you to mix/match colors and view the result also allows you to view it with a small selection of other lenses. I can't read the rest of the page, but these options might seem to suggest that one could select a body color, grip color, and lens, view the product, and then click a button for purchase. No?

Here's the page....

????????????PENTAX K-x ????????

And these are the lens 'options' that it presents.....

DA L 18-15mm F3.5-5.6
DA L 55-300mm F4-5.8ED
DA 40mm F2.8 Limited
FA 43mm F1.9 Limited

Sure can come up with some interesting combos!
