K-7D Copyright Features

I am still evaluating the K-7D for my purposes, but what caught my eye today was
the "embedded copyright feature" briefly mentioned in a review. Would someone owing a K-7D briefly mention how this is activated and the metadata results?

It has 2 fields, can't rememebr what they're called, that can be filled in with your name etc. via the menu. This is then embedded in the exif when the photo is taken as copyright holder, author etc.

You can also add that info anytime, of course, via external tools like Lightroom, ACD Pro, PhotoMe etc etc.

The K-x also has this feature too, BTW.

Doesn't work with PhotoMe, does it?!?

I started to use exiftool which can batch process many files at once but having it done by the camera would be much more convenient.

Yeah, PhotoMe does, sort of. It's clumsy - you have to import an external EXIF info file etc.

Other tools do this too via batch or per image - Irfanview, Faststone (I think), exiftool as you know etc. But Lightroom and the likes of ACDPro do it most elegantly, as you add your images into their catalog.

But yes, it's 100% more convenient to have this already in the camera.

But for older non K-7/K-x images, external tools are all you have.

This is one of the things that made me consider the K-7

It is one less step in post processing. I think it is one great feature! I hope they keep it in future models.

There are 2 fields:
- Photographer, and
- Copyright holder.

Both informations can be embedded in the EXIF and easily accessible with PDCU and PhotoMe for example.

You can choose to embed none, one or both informations.

Reference: Pentax K-7 Instruction Manual p. 277.

Hope that the info will help...
