I'm curious about this also...
I just updated my camera to 1.01. MODSET.492 with [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] still works.

Installed just fine here. The new cross-processing options point out that there were really only three "presets" to begin with, I guess (red, yellow, green). No oddities to report.

Oooooo.... and the saga begins. Someone else upload it first and let us know how it is .

I don't think I have a battery issue though. It showed low battery on the first day I was using it. I shut it off and turned it back on, and it's been fine since on the same set of Energizer Liths that came with it (I know, I know, still on original set of batteries = LAME).

I was just about to ask for a less random cross processing, as I really like this feature, so here it goes:

THANK YOU HOYA CORPORATION!

Just in case they are lurking here...

I like the cross processing feature as well...but...I wish they would incorporate either raw+, or saving a separate, normally processed jpeg as well. maybe not possible, but would be nice!

i totally agree! it's a pity they don't provide a way to use filters on jpegs only while shooting raw+

my preliminary results with firmware 1.01:
previously non-working batteries seem to work
working batteries that resulted in camera turning off, even with actual residual charge, now can turn the camera on and go orange.

so far I'd say I'm pretty satisfied
the test goes on, though...

Thanks for the update! That's great news. Pentax "fixes" one of the few complaints/problems with its new camera. I'll be updating mine as soon as I can get some time.

Hi all,
Just got the K7 today! NICE!!
Now, is it really worth going through the trouble of updating the firmware?
I find the camera is handling quite nicely and so far not much noisy issues at 800-1000ISO. Seems quite stable too.
Any opinions?

It's not much trouble and it fixes some potential problems. So yes, it's worth it.

As far as im aware, with previous cameras you'd just have to find the new MODSET.xxx extension number. Easiest way to do so is by copying 1000 MODSET.xxx files from 000 to 999. With some of the dump commands. Only one of them will produce dump, containing the true extension.

Have they disabled MODSET file functionality on k10d completely, or just changed the extension?

I was referring to them blocking the very first method that was discovered... then I changed K10D to K20D and did not bother, but now that I have Kx it is important again.
