mixed lighting with LEDs

strange and difficult light - but a surprisingly pleasing result -

had to work harder to pull the face out of shadows/silhouette and reduce the over saturation -

strong colored lighting -

great act Ben Sollee

My biggest reason for binning concert shots, after blur, is strong red/magenta light. It really removes all detail from faces. Any suggestions other than shoot more or shoot a group with a different lighting man?!?

LED and prominent magenta lighting is unfortunately getting more and more prevalent
as prices and flexibility of these light improve.
Magenta is attractive to the eyes -
but plays havoc, as you noted, with digital photography
- because it's "pure" blue and red wavelengths only (devoid of green) -
so it's like only using 1/2 the Bayer sensors.....

I have a post on how I mitigated this in:

Modern LED Stage Lighting & photography problems ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

the whole thread is about problems with LED lighting in particular magenta
(opening post #1 illustrates how detail is blurred by LED magenta by JPG compression.)

EDIT to ADD
You got me inspired to tackle the problematic magenta photo in that opening post #1

I've just posted #141 in the LED thread.

end of official set.....

whole 'nother after hours set....

actual gig -

but some parts were in stark/dark contrast to the stage -

photo shows much better lighting than actual -
not complaining.....

moving around gets this point of view -

bassist kept head down most of the time -
so if you can't beat 'em....

my favorite "difficult" shot of the night....
while right up front I heard this really sweet refrain/chorus coming from the back -
even craning my neck I couldn't see where the sound was coming from -
had to retreat, then turn round to see this scene - so dark I could not focus -
had to focus on a candle in the end and allow the depth of field to take care of focus....
then had to work pp (including color balance) to get this (EXIF re-attached)

djembe player in silhouette

but the full line-up from their peak period, when they had their biggest hits -
