Just downloaded new firmware and !!!

My Rayovac batteries show orange 1/2 empty, not red. They will power up the camera, but don't go to green. This is in Auto and NiMh mode.

I is obvious now that the Rayovac Hybrids are not suitable in this camera. I purchased NiZn's a while back and they work great, so that is the rechargeable battery for me with this camera.

I will always keep a set of Energizer Ultimate Lithiums in the bag as back ups.

After the firmware update, mine work great in the K-x. Are they new? Usually it takes a couple charge/discharge cycles to get them up to full capacity. Last night I shot a few hundred exposures and recorded about 10 minutes of video before they started showing red.

I bought 6 sets of the rayovacs and they work just fine. You need a good charger like the Maha MH-C9000 which has a break-in feature that grooms the battery for it's optimum mAh rating. It also has a refresh setting which "freshens up" the batteries if they seem to be losing charge faster. I have no issues what so ever with the Rayovac Hybrids.

I have the MAHA 801D, a very fine charger. My Rayovac Hybrids work in EVERY other device I own. Like I said I bought NiZn's and they work great, so they will be used for the K-X exclusively.

Not that big of a deal as long as SOME type of rechargeable is reliable. The NiZn's are just that.
