Brand new K7 with 272 shutter actuations according to Photome?

I just got a brand new K7 and am quite pleased. Haven't taken it out, just set it up and popped in my sd card, formatted it and took a shot. Took the sd card out and opened the first photo with Photome and it showed a shutter count of 273. Why was there 272 before me if it's brand new?

Im pretty sure they do some testing in the factory in which they take multiple test shots.

If I had a dollar for every post like this (new camera, shutter count, etc), I could buy that new K-7 today!

Kidding aside, this is perfectly normal!

The very first shot I took with my brand new K100DS (back in late 2007) showed about 300 or so shutter actuations. Today, 12,000 actuations later, it is no longer bothering me
That must be factory testing and the numbers seem to be consistent around 300.

Thanks,

Figure a couple seconds of testing the shutter in maximum burst mode can easily rip off a hundred shots, and it doesn't seem very out of line.

Thanks. I may have send it back to the retailer, there are like 7 visible pieces of debris trapped between the rear lcd and plastic, kind of annoying and I figure gotta do it now.

Bummer on the flecks behind the LCD. My K10D had 262 shutter cycles when I got it. Adorama was great about explaining this to me - ordinary "burn-in" testing of a new camera.

Yeah, I am probably gonna send it back for an exchange. I don't want to since it's so new and I have all this excitement for it.
