Why can't the K7 render these details?

This is an interesting topic.
Red is always problematic, with any camera.
Red has weaker contrast than green and blue.
I don't know why this is so.
Anyone?

Examples:
(x = lines per image hight, y = contrast)

Let's look at the 'NR-off' version:
Digital Cameras, Pentax K-7 Digital Camera Test Image
Click on the image for the IR-supplied jpeg, or download the raw and see in your application of choice. Pentax is really hurt in that test by the less-than-inspired choice of parameters, and probably by not so good NR algorithms.

So, this is a JPEG sample, and I wonder if one would get the same results from a RAW file?

Even the JPG with NR OFF gives quite respectable results -
(esp. when compared to the default NR version)

EXIF still attached.
