K100D Super batteries

I just went to Target to pick up some batteries and came home empty handed. The batteries in the camera are Energizer lithium AA with a # on the side 03-2023, What Target had were the same battery except the # is 03-2024. Does anyone know the difference in these two batteries?
I have read not to use recharable units as they have a spike in power and may hurt the electronics.
Thanks
Dudley

The rechargeable batteries you should not use are rechargeable CR-V3 batteries. Those batteries sometimes have an unregulated voltage, which can spike and damage the camera.

Rechargeable AAs, on the other hand, are safe to use. I recommend using Eneloops or other hybrid-type rechargeable AAs.

get some sanyo eneloops, typically at wolf camera or through an online retailer. i get approx 500-600 shots out of a set. i currently have two sets that i rotate through - when one dies, throw the other set in and the dead set in the charger. going on about a year with set 1 and am noticing slightly less usage capabilities, prob around 400. each set was around $12 and definitely worth the money.

Use any brand "Hybrid" rechargeable batteries.
You can distinguish them from the regular rechargeables by the label "PRE-CHARGED".
They are branded as Eneloops, Kodak white, Rayovac Hybrid, Duracell now has them with the "pre-charged" label but they are more expensive than the offering of the other brands mentioned with almost the same price (around $10 for 4).

Not sure about the model number change on the batteries, but it can't possibly be anything to be concerned about. Still, I agree with the others - use rechargeables, preferably the "hybrid" low self-discharge AA's. Not sure where you read about the "spike", but that's just plain wrong. I'm not rich enough or environmentally-unconscious enough to put up with non-rechargeable batteries.

I bought the Energizers today and they work just fine, next I'll spring for the Eneloops. Thanks for the guidance.

Holy cow guys, 03-2023 and 03-2024 would be the expiration date for the batteries.

Cheers, Mike.

+1 for Eneloops also

I used them on my K110D for about two years (before I sold it). Have been using it on my K100D Super and my K-x now. Love them.
