White balance impact of Autofocus

I was screwing around with my K10D and 50mm 1.4 practicing manual focusing; when I started taking images with the AF.

Now the WB was all screwed up, and it looked horrible. And the target wasn't in focus. I was shooting at a light switch on a white wall. Now I know this lens is calibrated correctly (I've done the debug mode trick) and my focus screen is custom shimmed so I was confused.

For no reason I changed the WB to a custom correction for the room and suddenly the images taken were again in focus.

Has anyone else seen a significant impact on AF accuracy by changing the WB? I normally shoot raw with a WB of 5000k, so I wonder if I should be fixing it first.

Comments? Help!

I'm guessing coincidence - only the K-7 has the ability to alter AF based on WB.
