K100D - Images are black

Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have a k100d, recently had the CCD board changed due to malfunction. Has been working perfectly since until today.

Suddenly when I take photos, the image that shows on the LCD, and is saved on the card are black. Well, almost black - if we set the brightness of the image up, the image is very faintly visible.

Not sure what has caused it or what to do as the new CCD board and fitment are now out of warranty.

Any suggestions / help appreciated

Could you post a problem image, with EXIF intact? Failing that, can you tell us what exposure settings were used?

Hi Marc,

Thanx for prompt response.

Image is attached (hopefully with EXIF included).

Exposure time is 1/90sec, and ISO is 200.

Steve.

G'day Steve.
What were you shooting? In daylight?
Certainly doesn't seem right for those settings indicated, unless the lens was completely stopped down (what was the aperture setting?)

No EXIF

Haven't got a polarizing filter on the lens have you? Just a thought

Thanx all.

Any tips on uploading the EXIF (I thought it was still on the file when I attached)?

Nope, no polarising filter on the lens.

And the shot was in daylight. The camera says the aperture setting is automatic (the camera is set to automatic picture - not custom settings), and the image file is not telling what aperture it was taken at.

Can I find out from the image?

Yes, but the shot itself would have a specific aperture the camera set the lens to for the exposure.
For a shot in an auto mode, this has failed miserably, unless the metering is somehow off.

If the image is still on the SD card, just view it on the camera LCD and press the INFO button.

And if not, just laod the image in Pentax Photo Browser, or really any other photo management program (even the softeware that came with your computer) and it should list all shooting parameters as part of the EXIF information.
