(And if that's not what you meant, then disregard this whole post)
Sorry, I'm tired. I meant the K-7 is almost twice the price of the K20D and the Kx is made from low-quality plastic.

Color options

Maybe a black grip isn't what the majority of colored Kx owners would want?

I'd enjoy even a no-powered grip though, it does seem tiny sometimes!

K200D was the "entry" Pentax back in 2008 and it had the optional grip, so why not the K-x following suit apart from the "entry level, I don't need a grip" crowd?
Although seemingly unrelated, I'd wager that there'd be less impetus to make a grip for a non-weather sealed body, as with the K100D, *ist DS/DL.

That would work for me too. I sold my K10D to get the K-x, and held another K-x the other day, it's hardly bigger than my old compact, Canon PowerShot S3 IS :P

They did make a non-powered grip to the old Z-1p to give it a better grip (I'm still looking to buy that grip if anyone has one for sale :P). I'd like a grip like that for the K-x as well. I will buy a third party grip if it arrives.

Morning All, The K7 uses a magnesium alloy body rather than the steel frame of the K20. A machined magnesium alloy body is much stronger - since it is one single piece of metal, and the magnesium alloy is much lighter than steel. So, what you have is a lighter stronger one piece body against a steel frame that is heavier and made of multiple segments. That translates into a user experience of a lighter camera. The K7 is lighter than the K20, and slightly heavier than the K100.

One of the claims to fame of Rolex watches (no, I do not have one - but this came to mind), is its single piece machined oyster shell body design, that provides its overall strength. The K7's body concept appears to be designed off the same principle.

More than half of the posts here are OFF-TOPIC.

Does anybody here own a K-100D and a K-x, as well as an aftermarket battery grip such as this one? If so, does the aftermarket K100D battery grip fit the K-x?

If someone owns both cameras but no battery grip, can you please comment as to how similar the layout on the base of the cameras are to each other?

Thanks in advance.

I might fit, but i don't think it will work. The Kx's ac adaptor makes me think that the one of the contacts on the battery grip is in the wrong place.

Why would you buy a small DSLR like the K-x and then attach a battery grip to it? Kinda defeats the purpose of having a small compact DSLR.

i didnt buy it for the size, rather the performance and cost of it... frankly i find it a little too small for my fat sausage hands.
