K-7 shutter count

I am just curious.

All the K-7 owners, what is your shutter count(is that what you call it)?

I bought mine in July, and I have already taken 16,345 pictures, and I rarely shoot in burst mode. Of course, not all 16,345 are useable, in fact most are not that good . . . .

I bought my K-7 new two weeks ago and since then have not left my house. After taking a few test shots, when viewing the pics, the screen shows 100-5551, 100-5552....
What does prefix "100" means?

Does that means my K-7 shutter counts already 5550 when new?
If so, I better contact the shop.

New k-7 cameras have apx. 200 - 500 shutter actuations due to factory testing. If your's have 5550, it's defenetly not new. You can download this program, it's free - PhotoME - Exif, IPTC & ICC Metadata Editor. Then you can open one of your photos and you will find the actual number of actuations of your camera. It's under "Camera" tab - "Shutter count"

It might depend on whether you loaded a card with images still on it from your last pentax camera. Mine started counting at about 2220 or so, and when I checked the card, 2219 was still on it and 2219 was from my k10d.

you can find the actual shutter count from the photoME under "shutter count", do not get confuses with the picture file numbering count which depends on how you have the camera setup.

The SD card is brand new and formated with my PC before put into K7.

With PhotoME, I found the shutter count is 142.

Now have to find ways to reset the "5554" count.

He's getting the 5554 number from the filename. I just got my K-x and the first picture's filename is "IMGP5665.JPG".

PhotoME, says the shutter count for that pic is 185. I haven't read the manual front to back, but I couldn't find anything in the menus to reset the file numbering. I used the camera to erase and format the card before taking the first picture.

Look into "Memory" settings. There is entry called like "file number"
