Don't worry about it . To me it seems like one of those hidden gems in this camera that you would never expect because it's a pretty advanced feature. The only reason I figured it out was because I was playing with the flash setting button and noticed that the 'W' and 'HS' symbols would be on at the same time. I thought that was weird so I tried it out. I'm not sure that many people are aware of this feature. Reading back through old reviews of the camera, there is not much mention of it, even though it is a pretty advanced feature.

Oh well.

Now you know.

yout right but the manual does say that HSS is available in wireless mode also,

What I have noticed is that in the K10 and K7 the menu is now different where you can select one of many modes, but only one at a time, Maybe we shoudl ask pentax how come you can't select more than 1 mode at a time. I also note that on the K series cameras HSS is not available through the internal flash, but only with the external flash on the camera.

But actually, aside from some studio things, HSS is usually used to track action shots and as such the flash is usually ont he camera

I always have smaller Pantax camera in my backpack, no matter what I am doing biking, kayaking or just going to work. It used to be istD or istDS, now I got a used K100D for this. I looked at Kx for this purpose , but after trying it a few times I decided to go with used K100D, it is a better package and a better camera despite its age and lower resolution IMHO.
