Not sure if they're an "authorized Pentax dealer", but I bought my K10D from Amazon.com. Shortly after I purchased mine, they dropped their price on the item by $50. Thanks to a tip from another member of this forum, I was able to contact customer support and get the $50 credited back to my credit card. And as an Amazon Prime member, I was able to get the camera shipped to me very quickly for almost nothing.

I but almost exclusively from three places online: Amazon; Adorama; and B&H. I do believe that there are other excellent reputable dealers. But I would gladly spend more money to buy from one of the dealers I know and trust than to try to get it for the cheapest price from someone I'm not familiar with. Just not worth the trouble.

I bought mine from Amazon, as the sales tax on such a big ticket item is a killer from B&H. (Like another poster, I'm a NYS resident. It really sucks for us that all of the reputable camera specialists with good prices are located in the same state as us.)

As to Beach Camera - Maybe they've shaped up their act in the past decade, but back in the late 90s they were REALLY shady.

If you can believe it, in Australia a body-only K10D plus battery grip costs about $US1300. So I went BH where the two items combined were $US300 cheaper even when international delivery was factored in! Hilariously of course this means I have a grey market import as far as Australia is concerned....

I will also testify for that I just bought my k10d from amazon. I had initially purchased a nikon d40x but it felt too basic and not much of an upgrade from a point and shoot. Also amazon's 30 day price drop policy is a nice benefit got a refund of 11$ when the price dropped.

Beach Camera's actual store is a DUMP

I came here to recommend Beach Camera, which Buydig is their sister site. Seems that Beach doesn't carry the K10D anymore. I purchased my K10D from them when they were out of stock everywhere else. I have purchase three cameras (Olympus C-7070WZ, Nikon D50, K10D) from Beach and have had no problems.
I hear good things about Beach Camera's online store, but their actual storefront in New Jersey is a dump. I drove 50 miles there this morning to look at a Pentax K100d. When you walk it looks like a store going out of business. A dingy mess with scattered glass counters filled with this and that. No organization at all. Most of the shelves are empty or full of junk. 3 or 4 "salesmen" were hanging around looking like they could care less whether I bought a camera or not - and they didn't. There was really nothing to see, not many cameras you could touch and demo, hardly any DSLRs. I asked one of the guys what he thought of a particular camera. He looked at me and said, "not much." I said, "and I drove 50 miles for those words of wisdom?" I was so bummed I left after two minutes. Stick with the internet store.

Might be why I've heard so many bad things about Beach. Most of my opinions regarding their shadiness have been from experiences of family and friends at their store on 22. (It's 20 minutes from where my parents live.)
