K10D at Best Buy Outlet..would you buy?

Would you buy a Factory Refurbished K10D from Best Buy Outlet for $379.00?

I'm looking into the K10D due to some of the more "pro" features such as direct access buttons and the great WR feature plus the price is very attractive. However, I can save just a bit more money and get into the Kx with the better IQ over the K10D but sacrifice some features...oh the decisions to ponder in life!

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

if it comes with a warranty, it is a good camera for the price

Looks like a good price to me, if you get a warranty, as Lowell wrote. If you realy are keen on the more "pro" features of the K10, I wouldn't hesitate. IQ is still competitive, if you don't need high ISO settings and the user interface of the K10 is much better than those of the smaller modells, in my opinion.

Actually I did buy one of these. Had to return it with in a few days. Could not get a good focus no matter what I tried. Maybe just a bad apple in a bunch but I won't buy another refurbished Pentax again. I tried a K200 last month from Best Buy also but returned it because of problems. In my opinion your better off buying a new one from a dealer that has one than a used or refurbished.

I purchased a refurb from Best Buy on line a few month ago to give the K10d a try. They web site said that when buying from Best Buy.com, the item can be returned to a store within 14 days if you do not want it. The one I got seemed to work fine, and looked brand new. The only exception was that it had the old firmware in it, which I easily upgraded.
In the end, I did not have enough time in the 14 days to really try it out enough (and get used to it) to be sure I wanted to keep it and returned it for a refund.

They tried to hassle me about it, but I "reminded" them about the online policy..they then took it back.

Of course being the fool I am, I eventually decided that it WAS he right camera, but luckily found a great used on on this forum for less money. Now I am a happy Pentax owner.

Just my 2 cents !

Thanks for information. Guess I will steer clear of the refurbs from BB.

I trust Pentax but would never trust Best Buy. Just because they advertised the camera as Factory Refurbished, they didn't say whose factory. The implication was it is Pentax but I'd never trust that to be fact.

The k200d refurb I recently purchased from Best Buy appears to be brand new & works perfectly. Same with a K100d Super refurb purchased from One Call a while back. I absolutely would not hesitate to pick one up (so long as you have the option to do a full return & refund). Imho, Pentax's refurbs are a major bargain.

The refurbs best buy sells are refurbed by pentax and carry a pentax warranty

The warranty is not a year like a new one but more like 60 days if I recall.

I too got a refurb K20 from BB and the camera was new and works perfectly.
I'd buy again as long as the item had some manufacturer's warranty and had a reasonable return policy.

Many K10D's had focus issues even my new one from Pentax, but after some work on it back at Pentax it focuses perfectly with all my lenses and is a great camera.

I like the K10D image quality in the shadow areas much better than the K20D/K7 which seems noisy to me when trying to bring out detail in PP.

Not sure if they still carry a refurb K100D, but for about $100 less, you could go with it. You will be risking fewer dollars, and when you do upgrade to a K-x, it will be a bigger upgrade than if you bought K10D. Besides, K100D is one great camera (I had a super, but nonetheless).
