K10D Firmware Upgrade Question.

It's been a mighty good while since I have picked up my daughter's camera (K10D), but I am beginning to realize the value of its lightweight design (compared to my Nikon D300 & D3) for my just casual out-and-about shooting concerns. I am interested in upgrading to the current firmware available, and see that a 16MB card is suggested for this. My other DSLR's use CF cards, whilst the K10D (as you know) requires SD cards. The one in the K10D is of 4MB capacity - which is more than adequate for my shooting needs with it. I cannot see shelling out for a 16MB sized SD card, solely for the purpose of obtaining the firmware upgrade, and wondered if anyone had been successful with upgrading the firmware via a smaller capacity card.

Advanced thanks.

Vous pouvez sans problème faire la mise à jour du firmware avec une carte de 16Mo c'est ce que je fait, je garde cette carte mémoire pour faire la mise à jour, il faut que la carte mémoire ait une plus grande capacité que le firmware.

I assume you mean 4GB card (not MB) and yes 4GB will work.

exactly what I thought.
And size of the SD doesn't matter. I have upgraded it with 512MBb...

You have a 4Gb card....download the firmware onto it, load that into the camera, transfer from card onto camera, then remove, check firmware was loaded correctly, then re-load the card and format the card...it's a very easy process and no need for an extra card.

Yeah, you're confusing MEGAbytes and GIGAbytes. You do need a card that's at least 16 MEGAbytes, but you have a 4 GIGAbyte card, which is 256 times the capacity.

No worries.

Thanks everyone.

And, yes...I confused MB with GB (Whew...what a blunder ). As always, I appreciate the responses.
