Is the 2 years extended warranty for K-7 worthy?

The price for that extended warranty costs $26 bucks from Amazon, not that much in comparison to the price tag of K-7 itself. However, I am looking for people experience with Pentax warranty/repair service upon the extended warranty benefit

I think the extended 2 year warranty is free, you just have to register the product online. However this was a month ago when I remember another thread talking about it, now I don't know if it still applies today but most probably.

I did register my K-7 right when I got it last couple weeks, but I didn't see any thing related to the extended warranty? Anyone has further info about that?

it is a gamble

I took my K10D for service,6 months after end of warranty.

It seemed to suffer from being dropped but I can't remember ever dropping it.

shutter assembly, mirror assembly and mount later (for $325) it is as good as new.

the price you are quoted is for about 1/15th the cost of my repair.

statistically I am sure not 1 in 15 fail in the 3rd and 4th years.

My *istD is over 6 and still going strong.

$26 sounds pretty reasonable for an extra 2 years coverage. My K10D failed in the third year and it would have cost $390 to get it fixed - I got a K-x instead.

I would also like to point out that VISA (at least in the US) offers an extra year of warranty coverage for free for any product purchased with the VISA card. It's only valid for products with a one year warranty. It's called VISA Warranty Manager Service. You only need to register the product with them.
